Welcome to the 13 Days of Halloween
Happy Friday the 13th, creeps! Anyone who is anyone and who knows anything about me knows that next to Halloween, Friday the 13th is the best holiday evah (I’ll fight anyone who says otherwise) and if you’ve come to argue that Friday the 13th isn’t a holiday–please click here. Anywho, today’s a pretty groovy day because not only am I celebrating Friday the 13th, I’m also celebrating 10,000 views! That’s right, my little Halloween blog has hit the semi-close-to-but-not-really-but-maybe-someday bigtime. I remember the day I wrote my assignment proposal for this blog. (It was a final project for one of the coolest classes I’ve ever taken.) When I was writing up the blog description, I wrote:
“I have decided to create this blog to share my knowledge, creativity, and craftiness for all things Halloween. But I must warn you–here you will not find grinning ghosts, cheeky skeletons, or cute little black cats wearing a witch’s hat. At 13 Days of Halloween, you will find that hair-standing-on-end-bump-in-the-night-enchantment which makes Halloween so fun.”
And damned if I haven’t succeeded in putting the F-U in fun! This blog was a 6-week project and I remember at the time I presented this project to the class, I announced I had already hit over 600 views, to which my Professor pointed out–“and we’re not even close to Halloween yet” (it was May). I also announced during my presentation that I planned on continuing to write for this blog–and so I have. It has truly become a labor of love and such a blast to put together and write posts to share with all my fans (all 10 of you). Along the way with this blog, I’ve set some goals for myself and promised I’d do something cool for each achievement I met. When I hit 1,000 views I said I’d buy my website (I did that within the first year). When I hit 6,000 views I had my oldest son design my website logo (and Franken Kitty was created). So, when I knew I’d be hitting 10,000 views, I decided whatever I planned to do had to be epic–like, fuck yeah, epic. And so, with a little help from a couple of badass ladies, I think I achieved a wee bit of “fuck yeah” epicness. Let’s get started . . . No–wait! Let’s take a walk down memory lane first.
*Sniff!* So good, right?? Okay, noooooow let’s get started!

Song of the Day
A Little Wicked
by Valerie Broussard
“A little wicked,” that’s what he calls me
Cause that’s what I am, that’s what I am
No one calls you honey when you’re sitting on a throne
No one calls you honey when you’re sitting on a throne
Beware the patient woman, ’cause this much I know
No one calls you honey when you’re sitting on a throne
One of these days a comin’, I’m gonna take that boy’s crown
There’s a serpent in these still waters, lying deep down
To that King, I will bow, at least for now
One of these days a comin’, I’m gonna take that boy’s crown
‘Cause I am, I am
A Little Wicked
I am, yes, I am
Hands red, hands red
Just like you said
I am, A Little Wicked
No one calls you honey when you’re sitting on a throne
I’ll be high up in that tower, he’ll be down there getting stoned
Beware the patient woman, ’cause this much I know
No one calls you honey when you’re sitting on a throne
‘Cause I am, I am
A Little Wicked
I am, I am
Hands red, hands red
Just like you said
I am, A Little Wicked
As I lay me down to sleep,
I will not scream, I will not weep
If he should die before he wakes
I pray the Lord, his soul to take
‘Cause I am, I am
A Little Wicked
I am, yes, I am
Hands red, hands red
Just like you said
I am, I am
A Little Wicked

“Hi! I’m Sarah, and I love photography. Â It’s true. Photography has not only become my job but it is also my friend, my therapy, my escape, and my second life. Â I enjoy shooting and creating images more than I know how to express. Â It is part of my soul. If I had to describe my photography I would say it has an edge to it. Â I love shadows, colors, light, and all things that make a photo pop.” Come find me on Instagram and Facebook
A special thank you to my BFF creepy girl, Jen for going above and beyond. She did hair and makeup for this shoot (thanks for making me look prettay), she was my moral support (I am not the girl who feels comfortable in front of a camera), and she got really excited about this whole project (which kept me excited instead of pukey). Cheers, witch!Â
